Show Me Tactics?

This may be a short little note. I just had a thought while I was working this morning, and wanted to share it or test it out. Like most of what I write, I feel like I should take a few to explain my train of thought before I actually get to the thought.
Many of you know that I am a fan of apologetics. What that is, is how we know the Bible is true. It uses things like science and history. Mainly, a lot of facts, figures and logic. However, the most recent book I read on this topic was written by Greg Koukl. Ok, so I kind of re-read it. I read the original edition, but there was recently a 10th Anniversary Edition. I am summarizing, or giving the severe cliff notes of the book, but it is how to talk bout your faith by asking questions. Being Colombo, if you are a fan of 80’s detectives. Questions that will let you better gage where they stand. Like What do you mean by that? Or How did you come to that conclusion? Or variations of those questions.
The next piece to this puzzle is that I reside in the State of Missouri. (Or the State of Misery, as it has been called by some of us.) Now, most States have a slogan. Illinois is The Land of Lincoln. Wisconsin is The Cheese State, I think. Missouri is known as the Show Me State. I am not 100% sure how Missouri got the nick name of the Show Me State. I think it has something to do with people not believing Missouri could be used as farm land, and people saying “Show me Missouri can produce crops.”
So, I was working this morning, when these two pieces started coming together in my head and I came up with what I am dubbing “The Show Me Tactic.” People make claims about whatever. I’m going to pick on some of the recent “Cancel Culture” But here is how I think it could work. Can you show me how gender specific Potato people are actually offensive to anyone? No, I don’t want your opinion, show me some facts or evidence. Show me one kid who mistreats women based on a cartoon skunk. Yes, I am trying to be sarcastic or use satire here.
I think this could even be used in serious or Biblical issues as well. Can you show me where Christmas is mentioned in the Bible? I would like you to show me where G-d said to stop keeping His commands. Could you show me some verses in context that support your view?
I do think this idea or tactic could work for this reason: Many people can’t offer much or any real support for their claims. Or at least, they aren’t prepared to offer any. It could catch them and their claims off guard because you are asking for evidence right then and there. Now, I haven’t tested this idea out at all, it is just a thought. And I think Greg mentions something like that in his book (The “how did you come to that conclusion” question.) But this takes it one step further and asks them to produce or show the evidence. Just a thought I was toying with today at work.
